Cursus Honorum, "cursus" meaning course or path and "honorum" meaning the worthiness to hold public and military office, ought to be implemented in the United States today.
Cursus Honorum is a set of prerequisites for holding political office. Prerequisites like age, nativity, residence, criminal record, prior offices, terms and term limits are revised in this op-ed.
Below is an outline of my proposed Cursus Honorum. All office holders ought to be NBC (Natural Born Citizens), a resident of the state they are representing, of a certain respective age, no felony charges, no impeachment convictions, can only run for re-election while holding office - if they wish to run for a different office they must resign or complete their current term - can only be elected upwards the Cursus Honorum - no presidents running for a seat in the house - legislative and executive offices have terms and term limits while all offices have a age limit of 65 for being elected to office, and the Supreme Court has a forced retirement age of 65. All judges must have been a lawyer.
